Primary Responsibility / Summary

Facilitates the implementation of Veteran Peer-Action Network (VPAN) program that results in the meaningful self-sufficiency for Goodwill of Southern California (GSC) veteran participants. Establishes and maintains working relationships with community organizations, social service agencies, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the CalVET, veteran-specific organizations, training providers, and other appropriate stakeholders for the advancement of program goals. 
 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1.Researches and identifies social services and housing providers in the Los Angeles region.
2.Conducts assessments of services to properly link resources with veteran needs.
3.Develops and maintains partnerships between social services, county agencies, city agencies, educational providers and Goodwill Southern California workforce development programs.
4.Coordinates the development and implementation of VPAN programs across Goodwill Southern California territory, with special focus on Los Angeles County Supervisorial District 3.
5.Explores innovative ways in which social service resources, educators, business, government, and nonprofits collaborate to promote self-sufficiency outcomes for veterans.
6.Facilitates meetings, roundtables, and other strategic conversations with community leaders, social service providers, businesses, public agencies, and other system stakeholders.
7.Establishes avenues for Goodwill programs to aid veterans in gaining needed barrier removal services across LA County.
8.Identifies partnership and funding opportunities to expand program services and outcomes.
9.Advocates to policy leaders and stakeholders to advance the outcomes of veterans in the region.
10.Maintains existing partnerships, and develops new organization service partnerships so that all identified needs of the Vet/MilFam can be met.
11.Staffs Rally Point and provide back-up for staffing at Community Access Points (CAPs) as needed.
12.Liaison with LA County Dept. of Military Affairs to coordinate staffing at the Rally Point.
13.Conducts skill-building classes.
14.Develops weekly schedule to ensure staffing at Rally Point and CAPs, and for after-hours phone support line.
15.Provides after-hours coverage once a week for phone support when Rally Point or CAPs are not open.
16.Leads and provides logistics for peer run events (social or volunteer experiences).
17.This position requires local travel extensively (> 50% of the time), must have a valid driver's license and state-required auto insurance.  Driving record must be acceptable by the Company’s insurance vendor.


Education & Experience

•3 years of nonprofit or social service program coordination experience is preferred.
•Familiarity with the local veteran-serving system required.
•Experience working and collaborating with veteran programs, community colleges, training providers, businesses, community agencies, politicians and policy leaders. 
•Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, education, business, or related field from four-year college or university required, master’s degree preferred.
•Knowledge and experience of Veteran-specific services and practices is required. 
•Knowledgeable of nonprofit and governmental budgeting process
•Experience in implementing programs serving Veterans with disabilities and other barriers to self-sufficiency.
•A self-motivator with ability to work with moderate supervision. 
•Bi-lingual fluency (e.g., English/ASL, English/Spanish, etc.) and ability understand another culture as required by the program and local community highly desired.
