Job Description

Primary Responsibility / Summary

Drives bobtail truck as assigned to deliver and collect goods.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Regularly inspects vehicle and fills out daily inspection forms.
  2. Complies with company safety procedures and Department of Motor Vehicles regulations.
  3. Reports unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  4. Loads, secures and unloads goods.
  5. Completes assigned route efficiently.
  6.  Ensures all related paperwork is filled out correctly.
  7. Presents friendly, cooperative attitude at all times; is well-groomed at all times.
  8.  Operates all equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  9. Must have a valid California driver’s license.  Driving records must meet the requirements of company’s insurance carrier.
  10.  Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • 1-2 years of class C driving experience.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Ability to work moderate supervision.
  • Spanish / English bilingual preferred.
  • Bobtail knowledge preferred

  • Must pass forklift operator certification within 90 days of signing job description.
  • Shift flexibility and overtime when needed.
  • Ability to handle confidential information. 
  • Punctual and dependable attendance.

English Language Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

  • Other software / systems – Vehicle Tracking system
