Supervisor, Government and Custodial Service Work

Provides supervision of the custodial services portion of the government Commissary contract.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Acts as the primary supervisor for all custodial duties and tasks, ensuring completion of all cleaning tasks throughout Commissary as assigned.
  2. Conducts orientation and training of custodial staff.
  3. Ensures quality and quantity of all work done by custodial crew, meeting all government standards and procedures.
  4. Ensures that custodial work is accomplished in the least disruptive manner for other employees and store customers.
  5. Serves as primary point of contact on custodial matters at the facility.
  6. Represents Goodwill to our workers and customers, presenting a cohesive, consistent, unified message from our management team.
  7. Assigns workers to respond to general and emergency housekeeping calls and requests by the government.
  8. Coordinates with Project Manager for supplies and duty lists.
  9. Routinely inspects custodial equipment and supplies to ensure proper use and maintenance.
  10. Interacts cooperatively with Government Commissary personnel and customers.
  11. Immediately advises supervisor when Government staff directs changes in contract requirements.
  12. Assists in supervision of Stocker crew in the absence of Project Manager or other supervisors.
  13. This position requires frequent travel (50%- 75%) a valid CA driver's license and state-required auto insurance are necessary.  Driving records must be acceptable by company’s insurance vendor.

 Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the direct reports.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • This job supervises 10 - 15 staff. 

Education & Experience

  • 3 years of supervisory experience.    
  • 3 years of related experience.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
